Real-time tissue biopsy is performed alongside sharing all imaging reports within 24 - 72 hours. Tissue biopsy results take 5 to 10 days to report including molecular testing.
30-minute consultations discuss individual breast cancer risks, family history and lifestyle risk factors such as HRT. Recommendations for testing inheritable of germline gene panels, and potential preventative population risk genes occur by referrals to leading geneticists.

How we work
Professor Winters, who is a dedicated Breast Consultant, holds ‘rapid’ One-Stop clinics in state-of-the-art facilities. One-Stop clinics provide a rapid method for making a diagnosis with imaging (mammogram, ultrasound +/- biopsy) at the same time and where results are 90% of the time given at the same consultation. The One-Stop involves an ‘in-depth’ consultation, imaging, diagnosis and treatment plan. (Imaging costs apply).
All patients requiring treatment will be discussed within an expert Multi-disciplinary team, involving pathology, radiology, oncology and radiotherapy as well as involving referrals to specialist services such as physiotherapy, pain clinics, psychologists, lymphedema nurses, breast care nurses, and other supportive practices. Patients are recommended to undergo MRI together with mammography and ultrasound using these specialised imaging techniques to guide accurate biopsies. Other latest imaging techniques are also used to include PET scans.
Discussion around HRT, family history and genetic testing will take place if necessary, and based on international guidelines for testing of the BRCA1/BRCA2 gene abnormalities.
Professor Winters has established ‘gold standard’ approaches to detecting the sentinel lymph node and in using techniques to measure the results of the lymph node in theatre, thus avoiding unnecessary second surgical procedures to the axillary lymph nodes. The latest innovations are used.
Professor Winters provides access to the latest OncoTypeDX genetic testing of breast cancers to help women make personalised decisions on their requirements for chemotherapy after breast cancer surgery. She is a strong advocate of women being given the opportunity to enter all new and available breast cancer clinical trials.
